The Sunday Series Vol. 11 (Valentine’s Day Edition)

Happy Sunday! Instead of our regular Sunday Series where we each share something we found interesting from the week, we thought we would do a themed one around Valentine's Day since it's coming up. We all have different perspectives on Valentine's Day, too. From gifts for her, him, girlfriends and roommates, the four of us are sharing our own ideas for those closest to us. We hope there's a little something for everyone!

When it comes to gifting for the guy, I keep things pretty practical. Thomas really doesn't like gifts, so if I'm going to get him one, it needs to be something that he can use often or learn something new from. Here are five ideas that all stemmed from things that Thomas already has and loves or are on his personal wish list (like the self- water planter). All Birds– Thomas' go to shoe are his All Birds. I have a pair too and they are super comfy. It's also nice because you don't need socks, so you can throw them on and go. Cuyana Toiletry Bag– We travel so much that we both don't even take our toiletries out of their travel bags. I love Cuyana and I'm excited that they are starting to make products for men, starting with this toiletry bag. Smart Self Watering Planter– Thomas has always had an interest in gardening but with our schedule, keeping the plants healthy can be near impossible. This self watering planter (available for pre-order) that connects to an app on your phone, has sensors built in for temperatures, soil moisture and more. It also knows what you plant and gives you recommendations based on conditions. B&O H9i Headphones– I upgraded to the B&O H9 recently and love them. With how often I wear headphones it's one of those things where you want great quality and comfort and having them look nice doesn't hurt. I know Thomas would love a pair, too. Beer of the month club– Thomas loves his beer and he loves trying out new ones so I got him this beer of the month subscription for Christmas, but it would also make a great Valentine's Day gift.

I've learned from years of experience that gifting for Julia is about emotion. She's easy to please as long as I dedicate thinking and searching time. She loves things with extra special details like monograms, bows, fun prints or gorgeous colors. That's why I picked out each of these items because they will remind Julia of me when she uses them. Pajamas– Julia loves cute and comfy pajamas and it's normally my go to gift for her. Bow Earrings– These dainty bow earrings are just the type of thing Julia loves to wear out for a special occasion. Aerin Perfume– I'm sure this perfume smells incredible but it's also such a beautiful bottle that it will match our soon to be completed master bathroom. De Gournay Heels– Julia is obsessed with De Gournay wallpaper. Last year she bought a pair of De Gournay flats and would wear them all the time. Now they released these heels and added bows, I couldn't think of a more Julia shoe. Jewelry Box– For Christmas, I bought Julia a really nice blush Smythson jewelry box. She fell in love with it, so I knew it was a hit.

Valentine's Day is a fun little time to break up the post-holiday blues and another reason to send out some love to all of the closest people in your life – just to let them know you're thinking of them! My gift list here is for the gals. My network of girlfriends expands near and far so I like mixing in some options that are easy to ship anywhere. One of my favorite candles is one worth sharing with friends, especially the Charleston scented version from 42Pressed which smells heavenly with hints of jasmine and magnolia. I like the idea of sending friends the scents of my new city that they can also enjoy in their homes. Of course, a little heartfelt note in a beautifully made and simple card is a great keepsake too. Of Note Stationers is one stationery brand I love most because their greetings say so much with very few words, and best of all their cards are elegant pieces you can display and save in a small frame too!

I live with three incredible friends, and we all appreciate aesthetics & interior design. Each room in our home actually has its own unique personality. When thinking about what I would give my roommates for Valentine's Day, my first thought was something to add to our home. Quince branches are a beautiful addition for a mantel. The blooming branches provide character, weight, and color for a curated mantel arrangement. They are also known to last for ages. We love our house plants, so an additional watering can is practical and can be used for styling and as an extra vase. For sweet & small gifts, this ceramic heart dish, dark chocolate bar, and beauty mask combined make for an indulgent gift set I know they would enjoy.
