Riding Boots For Fall

Outfit Details:

Frame Coat c/o (I also this multicolored one), Tory Burch Sweater, J.Crew Shirt, Corduroy Pants (last seen here), Frye Boots, Krewe Sunglasses, Dragon Diffusion Tote

After our first full night staying in Warren, VT at The Pitcher Inn, we woke up for an early-ish breakfast before setting off on a long day to explore Vermont. Craving a savory breakfast after the previous night's smorgasbord of S'mores, I ordered scrambled eggs and green tea, sitting on the back porch with the cool morning air. This day of the trip happened to be the coldest during our week in New England, a crisp but comfortable 50 degrees, perfect for adding an extra layer of clothing. As we ate our breakfast we watched how the trees shed some leaves with each gust of wind, at times, it was as if it was raining fall leaves.

After a not so quick breakfast we hopped in the car, cameras in hand, and set off to find the best of the fall foliage. Prior to our trip we kind of assumed we'd have to search out the best spots for foliage in New England. Truth be told, Vermont and New Hampshire (and what we saw of Massachusetts) are so thick with deciduous forests that everywhere we went was incredible. In fact, it made it very hard to get to places "on time", as at least every 10 minutes we'd see something that we would ooh and awe at. By the end of the trip, we started to factor in extra time for unexpected stops along the way so that we'd have time to get to our long list of daily activities. We took Route 100 north to Stowe, cruising through town first before heading up to Smuggler's Notch.

Smuggler's Notch is about 10 minutes outside of Stowe and is worth a drive through if you're in the area. Large boulders litter the mountain pass and the road zig zags around them. Lot's of people parked their cars to go on hikes and get closer to the foliage, while we opted to cruise over the pass and then turn around and come back again. We are often amazed by what the same thing can look like from a different angle. We didn't stop for any hiking, a combination of not having the right gear and wanting to fit in other activities in the day, but I'm sure the views are magnificent. The colors are so striking here, in vibrant shades of yellow, orange, red and green.

We made our way back to Stowe where we strolled the main street, stopping for lunch at the historic inn and then grabbing a coffee before heading back on the road. Stowe is an adorable, picturesque New England town. The main strip is lined with little shops, cafes, quaint homes and restaurants. And of course, there is a perfect white church with a steeple that you see in every town in New England.

On this brisk day, I layered up, starting with a plaid J.Crew shirt, followed by this equestrian inspired Tory Burch sweater and topped off with this navy Frame peacoat. I wore these tan corduroy pants, also worn here, that matches perfectly with my Frye riding boots I bought at Nordstrom earlier this year. I originally got them for our trip to Ireland, and am glad I can finally bring them back out again. It's been a while since I found the perfect cognac colored flat leather riding boots and this pair is perfect. They also come in a dark brown and black. Now that we're definitely into the fall season, we'll be living in boots, so finding a pair that can be worn with most of your wardrobe is key. A few other styles I love include this other Frye pair and this Tory Burch pair.

Upon returning to Warren we turned up the Lincoln Gap Road to checkout a spot we had found the day prior. We had been told about Sunset Ledge by the manager at Pitcher Inn and we set off to take the quick hike to a vantage point to enjoy sunset but we found a ledge just off the side of the road that offered an incredible view. As the sun set, it lit up the trees around us, creating an amazing golden glow.
